the bright day is done and we are for the dark

With tension rife at the beginning 2009 Sons Of Itto were on the verge of imploding... so we decided to return to Random Recordings with Dan to record as many backing tracks from our back catalogue (of 80+) as possible, in one day. We managed 30. We were knackered.

With the backing tracks down the band went on an indefinite hiatus and had babies, changed careers, bought houses etc. In the two years that followed we've slowly recorded, mixed, re-recorded, compiled, unassembled, re-re-recorded 18 of the Random Recordings backing tracks. The initial idea was to release a double sided concept album, but after listening to the first mixes back to back it was just too big. So we split it and in the process realised that there was two clear categories these songs fell into, 'dark' and 'light'.

Part One - "Chaos" is the dark. It's a deliciously filthy lo-fi, rock'n'roll album that you can turn up loud and lose yourself in or equally plug in your headphones and let it take you on a ride through it's perverse, psychedelic landscape.

The two years it's taken to put this album together has been a mixed blessing, it's been frustrating and downright painful at times, but the extra time has allowed us to reflect on each track, experiment with different sounds and different takes... It captures Sons Of Itto at it's raw best and with extra production we've managed to create a sound with more intricate layers and levels that we've never been able to achieve before. I'm hand on heart, skull crackingly, stupidly proud to have been a part of this 30 minutes of music.
